Memorable holidays - Cape York Peninsula September 2012

http://joyolneyfamily.blogspot.com.au

Cape York Peninsula - September 2012

This was an opportunity to camp in Cape York without having to drive to Cairns first!  A group from gym (Mary & Geoff , Janet & Ray, Gerry) flew to Cairns before joining a camping tour to the Tip of Australia. We flew to Horn Island first, then ship to Thursday Island and onto Seisia on the mainland. Our stay in Seisia was extended an extra 3 days because the barge across the Jardine River was damaged by a huge truck laden with gravel. We had a make a more rushed trip south but still saw the highlights. (Refer to Cape York Peninsula 2012 Blog).  Peter was able to meet up with his 2 siblings while in Cairns; that was a bonus.

Leaving Melbourne, bound for Cairns.

We had a few days in Cairns with Graham & Julie before our camping trip.
Lunch at Malanda - Joy, Graham, Julie, Howard, Helen and Peter.

Arriving on Horn Island.

Peter & Joy visited the Torres Strait Heritage Museum on Horn Island.

Peter found a beer bottle from 1941, the year of his birth.
